New Year, New Environment for the Scientific Conference!

The eagerly awaited premier scientific, social and cultural event of the year – the Scientific Conference of the Second Medical Faculty, Charles University – will take place on its regular dates, but in a new environment. We will meet on 26 and 27 April in Žížala in the Pelouch Lecture Hall and the adjacent lobby. The reason for the new area is of course the reconstruction that is going on in the traditional auditorium in the hospital. The advantage will be a more dignified space for presentations, refreshments and accompanying seminars, but at the disadvantage of limiting the capacity of the lecture hall.

What can participants look forward to this year? Mainly to the lectures of our doctoral students, and thus the possibility to get acquainted with the best scientific results of our rising faculty and beyond. The collecting of abstracts to be presented is starting right now, and remember that for students from third year level, active participation is obligatory (if the student did not have a presentation last year) – we want to know the progress of their scientific work with the approaching end of the study. The deadline for submitting abstracts to the web application is 17 March.

The conference of course will include qualified and interesting speakers. At the moment, we have a commitment to speak from the well-known neurologist from Columbia University Dr. Hynek Wichterle, who will be speaking about the realistic possibilities in regenerative medicine in neurology. Additional interesting speakers will be added in time.

Accompanying workshops, which were very popular last year, will continue. This year we will, among other things, look at how our recent graduates are faring in medicine and research, and what advice they can give current students.

The traditional participation in the scientific conference of the literary-cabaret duo Rudiš–Malijevský will continue this year. Their show EKG at the Archa Theatre is celebrating its 10th anniversary of consecutive sold-out performances, and we will have the luck to experience a private showing.

For those who are not interested in even this option, but are more interested in sports, we have prepared a run in the Motol compound – the end of April should hopefully bring us some nice weather.

Let’s meet on 26 and 27 April in the Pelouch Lecture Hall!

Vice Dean for Science, Research and International Relations and the main organiser of the Scientific Conference
